Sustaining cultural ways of being through education.
To create a collective voice of tribal leaders, citizens and staff working in collaboration with WA State agencies, institutions and organizations to advocate for legislative, policy and research efforts that increase educational opportunities available for Native peoples that further the healing and enrichment of Indian Tribes and Nations.

Values & Guiding Principles

Tribal Sovereignty, Self-governance and Self-determination
Tribal Leaders guide the actions and recommendations of TLC.

Government-to-Government
TLC advocates for the recommendations made by elected tribal officials, which should never replace or be confused with the formal tribal consultation process required by law.

Openness and Inclusion
TLC meetings are open to tribal leaders, tribal citizens and tribal staff, legislators, education and state agency partners and others interested in working toward improving educational opportunities for Native students in WA State.

Collaboration and Consensus
Focus on working together to develop shared priorities and policy recommendations.
